About Us
Northfield House in Knayton, near Thirsk, is a spacious modern detached house providing high quality care with the flexibility to meet specific individual needs. Our aim is to listen to the service user, their relatives and staff and continually assess the quality of the service we offer. Northfield offers relaxing sensory spaces and therapeutic outdoor garden environments for service users to enjoy.
A high priority is placed on providing fulfilling person centred experiences for all our service users. Regular social visits and opportunities for learning are provided throughout the year. These include visits to swimming pools, bowling alleys, cinemas, walking, places of interest and any other activities that are interesting and stimulating for the people we support.
Outside the home environment we support individuals to access social groups and activities of their choice, adult education courses, life skills courses and employment training activities.

Leigh McCusker
“I have been managing services for people with learning disabilities and autism since 2008. This has included residential, supported living and outreach services.
Before 2008 I worked mainly in mental health services and inpatient settings.
I came to work at Action for Care as a service manager in 2022 and moved over to Northfield House in July 2025. The service is a pleasure to work at, having a well established team and fantastic service users.”
