About Us
The Orchard is situated in the village of Wistow, near Selby which is within the York and Selby District of North Yorkshire. York is in easy reach from the A19 and Wistow itself is accessible from the A64, M1 and M62. The house is towards the outskirts of the village set against a backdrop of fields and countryside. There is a large driveway to the front of the house for parking.
The Orchard provides 24-hour support for 6 adults with learning disabilities and associated complex needs including autism, challenging behaviour and dementia.
Our objective is to provide a holistic approach to develop people's independence and to enjoy the everyday experiences and opportunities provided by the local and wider community.
Our aim is to provide a high quality service with comprehensive care planning and risk assessment to reflect individual needs and preferences and to identify where life challenges can be addressed and eased through encouragement and interaction. We are committed to working to the highest professional standards on a multi-disciplinary and partnership basis to offer real community living.

“I have been part of The Orchard, Action 4 Care since 2014. I began as a support worker and have progressed through a variety of roles and became the registered manager in 2021. This has given me a strong understanding of the service and the needs of the people we support.
At The Orchard we provide person- centred support, promote independence, choice and meaningful opportunities. Our focus is ensuring that everyone can live a fulfilling life, feel valued, respected and empowered.
My vision for the service is to create a warm and welcoming environment where people really feel at home. The most rewarding part of my role is seeing the smiles on peoples faces when they achieve something they have worked hard towards, no matter how big or small. These achievements are often made possible through the encouragement, patience and dedication of the fantastic team around them.”
